Weekend Box Office #180
The days and weeks are flying by, and I feel older every day. Crap.
Meanwhile, movies keep coming out, though not much that is new and wide this week:
DATE NIGHT (3374 theaters). I like Steve Carell and Tina Fey, but word is that this is only okay. Still, there's not much out there. Figure about $22.3 million for the weekend.
LETTERS TO GOD (897 theaters). A religious family film that will probably do well in the places that this type of thing does well. $5.2 million for the weekend.
*******
CLASH OF THE TITANS made $61.2 million last weekend. Pretty soon every movie may be in 3D.
WHY DID I GET MARRIED TOO did a very solid $29.3. THE LAST SONG did a pretty-good $16.0 million. The movie biz is doing pretty well.

Saw "Clash of the Titans" (2010) a couple days ago. I didn't think it was as good as the original. It wasn't bad, it was just so-so.
Can't wait to see "Date Night." HUGE NBC Thursday Night 1/2 hour comedy fan: 1) "The Office" 2) "Parks and Recreation" 3) "30 Rock" 4) "Community." SOLID foursome. Thus a movie with Steve Carrell AND Tina Fey is not to be missed -- by me. :)
One other moive that's opening this weekend in several theatres in Washintgton is "The Black Waters of Echo's Pond." It's some low budget horror about a group of adults who play the ouiji boardlike game and demonic things start happening. Has Robert Patrick (Terminator: 2) in it.
Sorry you're feeling older, Scott. Got the cure for that, but you have to travel 2,000 miles north for it. It's called, "Running with Micah." Got my first runners high in years running with my black poodle, Micah. So come on up. It's like the fountain of youth.
