Weekend Box Office #170
I'm swamped with work, though I'm not complaining. It's better than the alternative.
This weekend, opening in wide release:
EDGE OF DARKNESS (3066 theaters). It's hard to believe that it has been 8 years (since "Signs") that Mel Gibson starred in a movie. This one is getting decent reviews, and looks like the kind of thing that people will turn out for. Prediction: $23.4 million for the weekend.
WHEN IN ROME (2456 theaters). This looks like a rather generic romcom. $7.8 million for the weekend.

Last weekend, LEGION did a solid $17.5 million. THE TOOTH FAIRY did $14.0. EXTRAORDINARY MEASURES limped in with 6.0.
AVATAR continued to roll with another $35 million weekend.

Crap, crap and more crap.
Blech.
Glad to hear you're keepin' busy, Scott.
I'm not to crazy about this week's new realeases either. Up here in Washington the Mel Gibson movie's TV trailer has been playing like EVERY 10 MINUTES; I'm SO READY for that to go away. Serious overkill: "Edge of Darkness" in no "Avatar". Still, now that Mel's back in it, I wish he'd re-up with George Miller and reprise his role the latest installment of the Mad Max francise. The new movie's called "Fury Road;" can't wait for that one.
"When in Rome" looks like a direct to video release.
If I get a Jones'n to see a movie at the theatres I think I'm going to go see "The Lovely Bones."

Edge of Darkness looks like fun. Great script by Monahan (sp?)
Aww come on, Scott... It's already 6:35 a.m. Pacific! Oscar noms announced almost an hour ago! We wait for you to weigh in!
Happy Groundhog Day!
