Weekend Box Office #164

So this year's Black List came out today. I've read a few scripts on the list, both of which were solid. None of mine were on there; apparently I didn't perform nearly enough sexual favors.

Opening this weekend:

THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG (3434 theaters, up from 2). Solid reviews, but at the same time it's hard to really see this clicking with non-family audiences. Still it should open well; call it $21.5 million.

INVICTUS (2125 theaters). This seems a little too serious, but reviews are good. $13.5 million, though it should hold well.

*****

Last weekend wasn't a good one for new releases. BROTHERS only did $9.5 million. ARMORED only did $6.5. EVERYBODY'S FINE tanked with only $3.8.

And TRANSYLMANIA only did $264,000 from over 1000 theaters; contrast that with UP IN THE AIR, which totalled $1.2 million from only 15 theaters.

Scott, up here in the state of Washington "Serious Moonlight" with Meg Ryan, Timmothy Hutton, Justin Long and Kristen Bell opens this weekend too. I just looked it up on IMBD and it already has earned $11,636, with an evearge of $1,454 from 8 sites from a December 4th posting.

Anyway, it debued in the Seattle Times this week as new. And they BLASTED it in their review. Not expecting much from it. Too bad Meg Ryan couldn't have been cryogenically frozen and preserved 1989 - 1993. I NEVER get sick of her. She could read the phone book and I could listen for hours...

Also opening this weekend is "The Slammin' Salmon" staring Michael Clarke Duncan ("The Green Mile"). The Seattle Times said it was funny for whatever that's worth...

Hope your eyes are doing better. Got all your Christmass shopping done yet? I'm HOPING to knock out all mine tomorrow, we'll see.

Hard at work on a new sci-fi script. Hope to have that ready to show you late January, or some time in Febuary. Having A LOT OF FUN writing it. Very different from anything I've written before. Found Scott Myer's site "Go Into the Story" has been helpfull making me a better writer lately. You might wanna check that site out, if you haven't already.

Hope your own writing is going well. Especially that script of yours that placed in the Nicholls competion. Dude, I'm like so jealous! Here a fifty. There a fifty. Seems like every year the Nicholls gets my fifty-fifty!
