Man of the Year is going to kill. America loves Robin Williams!

I never get the numbers right, but I will bet my left you-know-what that Man of the Year opens embarassingly small --definitely under ten, maybe as low as 3-5. The Marine is also going to underwhelm --under 12.

So far I'm 0 for everything, but I'll try anyway.

The Grudge 2 $25 mil
The Departed $23 mil
Man of the Year $10 mil
Texas Chainsaw $9 mil
Marine $8 mil

I think thusly:

The Grudge 2- $31
The Departed- $18
Man Of The Year - $11
Texas Chainsaw- $9
Marine- $8.5

(Grudge 1 opened HUGE, remember. Only reason for inflated guess on my part). But I'm usually wrong, anyway.

The Grudge 2 - $32m
The Departed - $17m
Man of the Year - $10m
Texas Chainsaw - $9m
The Marine - $6.5m

Just taking a stab. The Grudge should loom large. This has traditionally been a good weekend for horror films.

Well now I feel really bad about calling you a douchebag. Well played, Joe. Well played.

I just figured that's what you called guys you really liked, Emily. You know, "douchebag" in that tender way.

Hmm, no way the Departed will stay in the 20s, although it shouldn't drop TOO much. Ok.....

The Grudge - 23.5
The Departed - 16.7
Man Of The Year - 12
Texas Chainsaw - 9.5
The Marine (By the way, this looks atrocious)....4.8

Hmm, I'd say predicting box office is was easier.

Speaking of box office, I just checked the numbers because I'm a dork and usually check them anyways:

Grudge 2 - 22 million
Departed - 18.7
Man Of The Year - 12.6
Open Season - 11
Texas Chain - 7.8
The Marine 7
The Guardian - 5.8
Employee - 5.6

Aw, The Marine bombed. Happy The Departed is hanging in there, good for Leonardo & the gang. they could use the extra cash.

I'm sorry to say that $24 of my hard earned cash went to The Marine. Don't DO IT!!!

You don't need to tell me!

Official final numbers:

The Grudge 2 $20.8
The Departed $19.0
Man of the Year $12.3
Texas Chainsaw $7.5
The Marine $7.1

So I overestimated everything. Man of the Year did better than most people thought. The Grudge 2 killed Texas Chainsaw, which dropped almost 60%.

I guess Pat wins, even though he didn't get his picks in until Saturday ;-)

Oh, and Joe owes his left you-know-what.

I'll give up both you-know-whats, Scott. How can one even think of bringing children into a world where $12.3 million worth of people would pay to go see "Man of the Year!" heehee.

Apologies for the late entrant, however, I didn't read any box office info until sunday. I'll do better this week!
