Nicholl News
Sorry to interrupt the discussion on the post below, but I got some news today.
This year I submitted two scripts to the Nicholl Fellowship competition, and fully expected them to sink or swim together.
But today I got word that one made the quarterfinal cut, and one didn't.
Good news, I guess :-) Though the other script is crying in the corner, so I need to go assure it that this doesn't mean its sister is more beautiful.
I hope everyone else did well, and if not, well, take another swing next year.

Woo-HOO! Congrats, Scotty!
Way to go, Scott! Gratz. :)
woohoo!
huzzah!
Excellent Scott!
I'm still waiting to hear. I'm assuming you got a letter, not e-mail? I checked the mail today and nothing so hopefully something soon.
Thanks all.
William -- Two letters, actually, one for each script. Unlike college acceptances, the good ones look just like the bad ones from outside -- both are just a single page.
Good luck to you and others still waiting to hear...
YAYAYAYAYAYYA!
Congratulations on making the QF's. Excellent News! May you go ALL THE WAY !!!
I didn't make the QF's, but I'm very proud to say I did make "Top Ten Percent" with "A Ghost of a Chance (formerly entitled, "The Crescent City"), thanks to you and others, who gave me tremendous help !
Congratulations. Good luck in the finals.
Bastard!
Okay, I just had to be the contrarian. That's great!
Might want to start training for the swimsuit competition.
Also commented on the last post...
Excellent news. Congrats.
Way to go!
Nice! Good luck in the next round.
Mary An whispered in my ear and said another one of us fellow Bloggerites made it. Much congratulations on a job well done, but I need to know. Are the two letters structured the same as in: "Dear ___ Congratulations on being accepted... and Dear ___ We regret to inform you... (smiles)
First of all, congrats! Second, is this a high-concept or a small story piece? Just curious as there's a post over at unknown screenwriter's blog discussing what's winning in contests :)
It's sort of a stew of a lot of genres. It's a character drama/road movie/action/romance/thriller that is essentially about a group of people with psychic powers hunting a serial killer.
Not sure if it's the kind of thing that will make the finals, but I like it :-)
Quarter-finals in a MotherF#cking Fellowship!!!
You're a hero to those of us who tried.

That's great news. I've heard of people being able to land agents from making the QFs. Work it, baby!
You made it! Did better than me, and you damn well deserve it. Congratulations!
Hope this starts all sorts of great stuff for you.
Awesome job, Scott the Writer!
Congrats man-
Script deserved it (assuming it's the one I read)
Good on you...
Systemaddict,
How many scripts have you read about a group of people with psychic powers hunting a serial killer lately?
TT
Actually, it's not the one you read.
Well done! (for the script that's still in..)
Commiserations (for the one in the corner)
I'll cross my fingers for you (when I've finished typing, of course!)
Shell
(Sorry - I'm being invaded) parenthetically (today).
*miserable glitches*
See? You CAN write, not just read.
Best of luck in the next rounds.
Well done, Scott. Best of luck in the Semi-s. Like Cathy, I got Miss Congeniality.
Got both my letters today. I'll be watching the rest of the competition from the sidelines. I must say that Greg Beal sure does let you down easy.
Congrats!
One of mine made it too. I'll race ya to the end! :)
